Associate Directors is an independent production company based in Belgium, with offices in Antwerp and Brussels. Associate Directors focuses on (co)-producing creative documentaries for an international audience. The productions concentrate on social relevant issues and cultural in-depth stories. Started in 1991, today the company combines the filmmaking experience of Mark Daems, Jan Lapeire and Bram Crols.
Associate Directors brings together established and new talent on the cure for innovative ideas. Through the film making process, Associate Directors established good intense working relations with many funding bodies, public and commercial broadcasters, and distribution opportunities among others.
Associate Directors is an active member of European Documentary Network (EDN). Producer Mark Daems is the EDN national contact person and chairman of Flanders Doc.

After numerous festivals screening for Elephant’s Dream the festival tour continues to HotDocs (North American premiere), Docville, Planete Docs in the coming weeks.

Elephant’s Dream by Kristof Bilsen and 9999 by Ellen Vermeulen continue their international festival tours. Together they star in a bigger Flemish selection during the Docpoint Helsinki FF. After both films go their own way again, just the start of many more festivals to come.

Associate Directors is proud to become involved as Flanders coproducer in Gladiators, a different world, a film by the multiple award winning director Arunas Matelis. The film receives production funding from the VAF.
Also The fellowship of the Flat Earth by Jan Lapeire (director Flaxman) and Trisha De Cuyper (director School WTF) is granted script funding by the VAF.

Twice congratulations for director Ellen Vermeulen. Her film 9999 currently in post-production will celebrates its WP during competition at Visions du Reél. Her upcoming film The double life of Marie-Louise received production support from the VAF. Great times ahead for Ellen (and us).

Spring 2014 will bring the international and national festival release of 9999 by Ellen Vermeulen. The King of Mont Ventoux continues its global festival tour withing the FICTS framework and will be part of the selection of the Londen Archive Film Festival.
